International Women’s Day 2022
I was honored to create a Guest Blog Post for Malia Designs (a fair trade fashion brand that I work closely with) about International Women’s Day 2022 - #BreakTheBias
Celebrating diversity and inclusivity while doing what we can to make this world a kinder and more loving place has always been our jam at Malia Designs. That’s what feeds our souls. That’s also why we partner and collaborate with like minded folks who are just as passionate as we are about demanding fairness and equality for those who identify as women.
The theme of International Women’s Day this year is #BreakTheBias. This isn’t a completely new concept as there have been meritorious people all around the world from grass root organizations to larger companies that have been tirelessly working for decades for real change. It warms our hearts to see this movement gaining so much traction in recent years and we are jumping for joy that there is an official global spotlight on #BreakTheBias this year.
This resonates so deeply with those of us who work in Fair Trade because it speaks right to our values of creating fair and sustainable economic opportunities based on transparency, equality, respect and a lot of love.

Our Cambodian partner groups at Malia Designs are all owned and operated by women who concentrate on providing employment opportunities for disabled artisans. Their grit, grace, and creativity continues to inspire us everyday and we consider ourselves so lucky to have them in our Malia Family.

Another group of beautiful souls that we are so thrilled to share this space with, are the amazing women of Passion Lilie. Passion Lilie is a fair trade fashion brand that blends classic silhouettes with hand woven ikat and playful block prints to create pieces that are both timeless by design and effortless to style.
